The Burning

A deformed madman armed with hedge shears goes on the attack at a summer camp in one of the most notorious slasher films of all time. Like in England, Germany, Norway, and Finland, the film was completely banned from theatrical release in Sweden and was also a target in the early 1980s police raids against video stores. The incredibly gory effects are created by the makeup genius Tom Savini, who made his breakthrough with Friday the 13th. The main roles are played by Leah Ayres, Lou David, and Brian Matthews, and in supporting roles, we find two newcomers who have become much more famous – Jason Alexander (George Costanza in Seinfeld) and Holly Hunter (Oscar winner for The Piano).
