Severely shocked after encountering a notorious serial killer who mutilated several women, TV reporter Karen White suffers trauma. Karen's doctor convinces her to rest at his remote coastal resort. However, the other guests behave strangely. And at night, the silence is repeatedly shattered by blood-curdling howls from the woods...
THE HOWLING made a sensation at its premiere with makeup effects of unprecedented quality. Behind these effects was the 21-year-old Rob Bottin, the genius who later worked wonders with The Thing and won an Oscar for Total Recall. Joe Dante (Gremlins, Piranha) directed the film, which was a success and led to seven (!) sequels. In theaters, Swedish audiences saw a version that had been slashed by four minutes by censorship, but now we get to enjoy the film in its uncut glory.
